Moth work resumes

After some time off to get supplies in for the Moth work and to finish off some home projects, Moth work has resumed. I installed the backing plates both internally and externally for the rudder gantry. Next is to shape the bulkheads to accept a concave deck and then lay up the deck and foredeck.

Side Project

A little work on a side project of a 110 tiller. I had enough wood to make two so I figured why not. So a few pics of 110 tillers in production. Started them yesterday morning and they look like the last picture on the floor now.

Thanks West Coast Sailing!

George at West Coast Sailing sent me a nice package this past week. The package included the rudder vertical with horizontal, the main foil horizontal and the rudder cassette with tiller and extension. That and a bunch of Bladerider bags to protect all of my gear. I decided to go with BR foils to take out some of the variables. These things are gorgeous and I'm looking forward to finishing the build and getting these things in the water. Thanks again George!

Back to Moth work

A combo of spar work and dolly work to get them ready while I source the materials for the deck and order the rest of the parts. A shot of the mast base fitting finally installed and a picture of two boom fittings (vang strop and mainsheet holder), a mast fitting (shroud terminal) and a 505 boom fitting for my brother. All of them are one big step closer, after this picture was taken, and should be ready by next weekend hopefully. The dolly should be done by next weekend as well so I can shape the foredeck and get ready to lay up the deck.

Raingutter Regatta board all done

With some painting help from my wife, the Raingutter regatta race track is all set for next weekend's fundraiser at Maxwell's in Park City. Should be a fun event for a good cause, the Junior Sailing program (new in 2010) for the PCSA. www.sailparkcity.org

More non-moth work

Not always a perfect world but this is a fun project. I'm building a raingutter regatta board for the fundraiser on April 24th for the Park City Sailing Association. It's already primed and now I just have to paint it white and paint on the group's burgee.

More carbon work

A new project is the shroud fitting on the upper mast. This is the base of the fitting being vacuum bagged onto the mast. Next I'll remove the piece, shape up the fitting and wrap it in carbon.

Here are the two fittings for the Vang strop and the Mainsheet. The carbon is the cutout pieces from the forward end of the boom, recycled to become the bases for the two fittings. All that's left is a little sanding and some carbon over the top.
